Key Terrain Cyber is looking for motivated and talented company grade officers to join us in the pursuit of education and innovation in the information environment. This program will help our fellows broaden their understanding of information warfare through individual study, research and reflection, and interaction with senior members of the information warfare community. This includes cyber, intelligence, communications, space, psyops, public affairs, MISO, Marine reconnaissance, and special operations.
James Patrick (J.P.) Blecksmith graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2003. He participated in the varsity football program during his four years there and lettered as a senior wide receiver. He graduated May, 2003 and accepted a commission in the United States Marine Corps. 2nd Lieutenant Blecksmith was assigned to serve as a rifle platoon commander with 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment of the First Marine Division. After training with his platoon for four months, the Battalion deployed to Iraq on September 10, 2004.
2nd Lieutenant Blecksmith died leading his Marine into heavy house to house fighting during the Battle of Fallujah. J.P. predeceased his mother, Pamela Blecksmith (d. January 11, 2008) and is immediately survived by his father Ed, his sister Christina and his brother Alex. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star with Valor device, the Purple Heart, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
Requirements: We expect fellows to publish one article per 6-month fellowship period. In turn, Key Terrain Cyber will help you develop your writing skills and present your ideas to the rest of the information warfare community. Additionally, Key Terrain Cyber will set up virtual meetings with senior leaders from the information warfare community for you to engage with.
