A native of Old Town, Maine, Sergeant Nicholas A. Robertson dedicated his life to serving his country as a devoted son, scholar, musician, and soldier. His legacy is one of courage, dedication, and selflessness, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Sergeant Robertson enlisted in the United States Army in 2005 as a Cryptologic Linguist after graduating from the University of Maine with a Bachelor’s Degree. His commitment to service led him to Fort Benning, Georgia, where he completed Airborne School before being assigned to the 3rd Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
During his service with the Military Intelligence Detachment, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Sergeant Robertson displayed exceptional bravery and skill in combat. Nick was an accomplished soldier who used his advanced linguistic and cryptologic talents intercept enemy communications and warn his fellows soldiers of impending attacks. Tragically, he sustained fatal wounds during dismounted combat operations in the Zahn Khan District, Afghanistan, on April 2, 2008. He passed away on April 3, 2008, at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, surrounded by the love of his family and fellow soldiers
Sergeant Robertson’s life was marked by a deep passion for learning and a commitment to excellence. A scholar at heart, he pursued his love for philosophy at the University of Maine, earning Phi Beta Kappa membership and academic awards for his outstanding achievements.
Despite his intellectual pursuits, Sergeant Robertson’s greatest joy was found in serving others. Whether through his military service or his personal initiatives, such as establishing a gym in Afghanistan, he embodied the values of selflessness and compassion.
Though Sergeant Nicholas A. Robertson’s life was cut short, his impact continues to resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered for his unwavering courage, his boundless kindness, and his dedication to making the world a better place.
Sergeant Robertson’s memory lives on in the hearts of his loving parents, David and Nancy, his brothers Doug and Todd, and all who were touched by his remarkable spirit.
